Election of Town Councillors: Ward 1: David McPherson, Seacraig, Tay Street, no poll; J T Young, Ashbrook, Victoria Street, no poll. Ward 2: George Peattie, Rockville, Woodmuir Terrace, no poll. Ward 3: George Tudhope, Holmbrae, Hillpark Terrace, no poll.
Council: Ward 1: William Forrest French, elected 1928, Provost; David McPherson, elected 1930; John Thomson Young, elected 1930, Senior Bailie. Ward 2: John Davidson, elected 1928; George Scrymgeour, elected 1929; George Peattie, elected 1930. Ward 3: James Barry Robb, elected 1928, Junior Bailie; William Ramsay, elected 1929; George Tudhope, elected 1930.
Rent of new houses should be £19 per annum.
2 December 1930. Complaint from Wormit residents, who formerly got light from the local company, about the supply from the new company. When will Council hear complaints about overhead wires?
Appeals against assessment: including Mrs Brighton, Woodfield, Wormit (roll no 1139).
Sgt. Todd, long the police sergeant at Newport, was to retire.
Total costs of new houses, including streets, £4783.
New houses: Rent to be £19.
New houses: tenants - (a) houses unfavourable to Dr Stewart: James Baird, Pluck-the-Craw; James Brown, Gas Work Lane; Andrew Dowie, Harris Buildings; R Huttenrauch, Union Street; Andrew Wannan, The Terrace. (b) others: Mrs Martin, teacher, Wormit School; James Soutar, upholsterer; Thomas Walker, butcher. The only applications accepted were from those who lived or worked in Newport.
Ex-Provosts' lamps: (1) property of Council; (2) maintained by Council in style of Provost's lamp during the ex-Provost's lifetime and residence in the burgh; (3) on death or ceasing to live in the burgh, to be removed and retained for future use; (4) if necessary, replace with an ordinary lamp (this was remitted back: before removal, each case to be considered individually).
Tenants: John Steven, gardener, Tayport; D McGregor, Union Street; then, in order: R R Macdonald, The Bungalow, East Newport; James Mathieson, Woodhaven; Mr Latto; L G McDougald, Wormit; James Paterson, Prudential Insurance Agent.
30 January 1931. Wormit light: poor service received by those using the old installation. Change needed at once.
Request from Mars Committee to install Mars War Memorial at Vicarsford - yes, at the Mars burying ground.
Forgan Street footpath: condition.
Resignation of Bailie Robb as a Councillor and as County Council representative.
Death of Provost French.
Co-option of William Mackay, Lorneville for Ward 1; George Rain Little, Bay Road for Ward 3.
Bailie J T Young elected as Provost until November 1931. G Tudhope is Senior Bailie, G Scrymgeour is Junior Bailie.
Extend for 5 more years the public use of Wormit School recreation field.
Fife Electric propose to recondition existing wires.
May 1931. Death of ex-Provost Forrest.
Mars workshops now acquired by Boy Scouts. Decided to install lavatories and WCs therein.
Conference to be called in Dundee about Tay Road Bridge - postponed.
Death of ex-Bailie Thomson.
July 1931. Work to put overhead wires and poles in Bay Road in order.
Formal application by Ministry of Transport for overhead wires in Wormit - Council still objects.
September 1931. Swimming Club is defunct, bathing shed reverted to Berry as owner of the Braes. He could gift it to the Council if they wanted it. No, not wanted.
Retiring: Mackay, Davidson, Little.
Council want to take over completely the Vicarsford cemetery; ex-parish council clerk told to hold on to titles, securities, etc.
? Pole in centre of road leading from Tayport Road past Taygrove to stop cars turning in the road entrance. Since this was not a private road, the Council couldn't give permission.
