22 Nov 1726 Death of bedal James Adamson. Session voted to appoint Arthur Tullos. Wm. Sim [whose tenant Tullos was] objected: Arthur is under a verbal tack with him for ane house yard and oven for the space of 5 years and said house lies upon the Newtown hill being the westmost corner of the parish and session should recall their vote … [or] by lyable for the cost, skarth and damage, and thereupon took instruments. Session upheld their decision. CH2/160/2 p.151
7 Mar 1727 [Schoolmaster states that his house is ruinous. He has applied to the Heritors for reparation in June 1725 yet nothing is done effectively.] … Laird of St Fort pretends a right to the school, though built by the session, and pledging the schoolmaster's house of right be repaired might serve him both for dwelling and school, did promise to give timber great and small instead of the timber that is upon the school, upon appretiation .. made by two members of session [which schoolmaster asks them to do, so he may get his house repaired]. Session [don't have the time] to overtake this affair did refer it till another meeting. CH2/160/2 p.155
2 Apr 1727 [Schoolmaster asks two members of session to inspect the timber at the school in order to get timber equivalent from the Laird of St Fort] - refused as it would carry with it a renunciation of any right the session and parish has to that house as the public school. CH2/160/2 p.155

21 Jan 1728 Death of minister [Mr Russel] reported CH2/160/2 p.164
1728 [Considerable number of people preached… difficulties in deciding who was to be the new minister. Elders and parishoners want Mr John Ballingall. The Laird of St Fort and Wm. Sim insist on another hearing for Mr John Burn. Some of the non-residing heritors were for Mr Burn. Petitions to Presbytery. Both groups were told to look for someone else. Both groups protested. When Burn preached, the collection was £1-14-0, when Ballingall preached it was £2-5-0. Ballingall consistently brought in greater collections. For Mr Burn - most of the heritors, 2 elders and a considerable number of heads of families. For Mr Ballingall - some of the heritors, all elders but 2, a great many heads of families. 22 Jan 1729 At a service today, Wednesday, most present wanted Mr John Gellatly, except a few who kept silent when asked, and Mr Ballingall, writer in Dundee, Wm. Stark in Balmerinoch, Wm. Sym and Alexr. Aitkine who in their own name and in the name of several of the heritors protested against the proceedings of this day. Afterwards a call to Mr John Gellatly was signed by 6 heritors, all the elders except Wm. Sim, and about 100 heads of families. CH2/160/2 p.175

28 Jan 1730 David Lanceman, servant to Alexr. Aitkin in Woodhaven, did unnecessarily go off with hired horses last Lord's Day. CH2/160/2 p.185
6 May 1730 To James Ramsay, wright St Fort, and John Wan, smith St Fort, £1-5-0 for repairs to seats and door of the school. [Payment delayed to the next meeting.] CH2/160/2 p.187
6 May 1730 The schoolmaster represented … that the school and schoolhouse were uninhabitable and unless repaired this summer the school could not be taught therein next winter. Session appointed Thos. Fleming and Wm. Sym to desire James Scott in Mains of St Fort who was appointed collector of the money (the heritors at a meeting of theirs some time ago stinted themselves for a reparation of the school and schoolhouse) to give an account of what has been paid and what is unpaid. 5 Feb 1733 Breach of Sabbath - hiring out horses for travel - David Wemyss, Alexr. Mackey, Chas. Robertson, Geo. Hay, Wm. Lanceman. [Considering this case] horses hired out on Saturday night knowing they were to be used on the Sabbath. [Petition to St Andrews Presbytery - increasing passage over the river and hiring of horses by passengers from Dundee who cross and take our horses at their own hand so their owners have frequently had to leave divine services and pursue for their horses … travellers from the south compel the boatmen on this side of the water to ferry them to the other side … generally persons of note and such as have their residence in other parts of the Kingdom - why the session's endeavours have not been successful.] CH2/160/2 pp.212-213

29 Apr 1741 Mr Alexr. Walker, St Fort, Dr John Gillespie, Kirktoun, and the minister and session met in obedience to an act of the Justices of the Peace of the Shire of Fife … anent the present indigences of the poor and the manner of thir supply … agreed to bestow 10 bolls meal (8 to be given by the heritors and 2 by the session) whereof 3 parts bear meal and 1 part peese meal … as the supply from Tuesday next 5th May to that day 4 weeks being 2nd June and have appointed £100-18-0 Scots to be paid by the heritors and £29-12-0 by the session in order to buy 20 bolls meal … the one half … the first month … and the other half against the 8th June to come into the hands of Thos. Medicin whom we have appointed overseer and distributer and have appointed said Thos., Robt. Fleeming tenant in Ennerdivot, and John Duncan in Cassowhead collectors of said money … Thos. Medicin agrees to provide the said meal and have [given him] a list of the poor people to be supplied at the rate of 3 lippiess bear meal ans 1 lippie peese meal weekly during the first month … CH2/160/2 p.270
29 Apr 1741 The above mentioned £118-18-0 [sic] being divided among the heritors … as follows: Alexr. Walker, St Fort £31-15-0; Dr John Gillespie, Kirktoun £16-7-2; Rev James Haddow, principal of New College £11-12-6; Alexr. Inglish alias Hamiltoun of Murdastone £17-13-3; Charles Leslie £14-19-6; Alexr. Garden of Troop £7-2-1; Mr Imrie of Flass £6-18-4 1/2d; Mr Alexr. Scrimger of Wormit 4-12-6; Andrew Barkly of Pitalys £1-6-0 1/2d; Mr James Hay £1-6-0 1/2d; Mr Hay of Mortoun £3-14-3.
