Cupar, 29 September 1830 … on 21 August 1830 appeared David Cousins, tollkeeper, Newport as procurator / attorney for Andrew Philp, corn merchant, Maryton, now in Leith, and Robert Berry, weaver, Maryton as bailie … having a feu charter by Robert Dalgleish of Scotscraig in favour of Thomas Farquharson, merchant in Edinburgh … all & whole the 2 pieces of land, … nos. 10 & 11 on plan … by Robert Neave … 80 falls & 29 ells Scotch measure … feu duty (yearly) is 1/6d. Per fall, bounded by road 30' broad on N, by a 25' road on S, by lot 9 on W, and by lot 12 on E - measurements to include half of roads on N and S … reserving to Robert Dalgleish the full and exclusive property of the sea braes betwixt the northmost road and the River Tay with liberty to build … vassal shall have the right of taking water from [the braes] & bleaching clothes thereon … to have sufficient entrances to their back ground if they build houses immediately contiguous to the roads … to maintain the roads … construct a 4' footpath … infeftment on the precept of sasine within 6 months [otherwise it shall be null & void] … also having a disp … 17 January 1829 … sold to Andrew Philp … [the above 2 lots] … RS 32/180/133
