Registered at Edinburgh 13 Aug 1844 …. On 3 Aug 1844 appeared personally Kenneth Gibson saddler Newport procurator & attorney for Ann Forrest or Gibson his wife, & William Duncan labourer Newport, bailie, procurator, having a feu disp by John Kidd wright, then residing in Dundee … proprietor of the subjects … who sold to Ann Forrest or Gibson all & whole 17 falls Scotch measure or 21 pol 13 yd imperial, part of all & whole pce of grnd in park … lot 20 … [description of lot 20] … which whole pce grnd was feued by late John Kidd sometime residing Strathkinness, the said John Kidd's grandfather. [The subjects] bounded partly on W by said W-most approach from Maryton & partly by a common green in which there is a well; bounded S by a road running eastwards through the said whole piece of ground; bounded E partly by a road or passage 6' wide & partly by John Kidd's own property, said road or passage separating the house presently upon said whole piece of ground from that thereby disponed & which passage should extend 6' N from the front wall & in a line with the gavel [gable] of said house & the same should be mutual between John Kidd & Ann Forrest; bounded N partly by said common green and partly by a road leading E-wards from said W-most approach … marked off by march stones fixed at the sight of said John Kidd & Ann Rattray or Forrest, residing Dundee, widow of deceased David Forrest sometime gardener in Dundee … privilege of use of roads presently or to be opened up by John Kidd through the whole lot; privilege of taking water out of the mutual well betwixt said whole piece of ground & lot 19 the property of - Landsman in so far as John Kidd has the right thereto… [on these subjects] Ann Rattray or Forrest is to erect a dwellingh ouse of value at least £100 sterling … [to be her property, not her husband's Kenneth Gibson] written 12 Jul 1844 … on the ground on date first written in presence of Andrew McLeish & Alexander Andrews both masons at Newport RS3/2241/52
