A worked example explaining the sasine transactions on the property pages

This is a fully-explained example of the transactions on one property - plot ID 108 - Wellgate lot 4 - 43 West Road & 6 Wellgate Street - up to 1894. The entries given on the property page are in black on grey. The explanaions are given beneath, in blue.

On the property pages, the sasine entries, like all other data there, are listed with the newest first and the oldest last. On this explanatory page, they are listed in chronological order.

Again, this is a pre-1869 sasine so the buyer is named first, the seller second.

Abridgement no. 611 in 1865. loan by Margaret Millie / UrquhartMargaret Millie, who is the widow of the Sheriff Clerk Depute of Dundee, William Urquhart, loans John Duncan £150 with the property as security. The property is described once again, but this time also mentions houses built on it. This is a pre-1869 sasine so the lender is named first, the property owner second. The lender is frequently unrelated to the borrower.

The person looking after his affairs, the 'curator bonis', sells the property to James Gellatly Ewing who resides in Newport. This is a post-1868 sasine, so the seller is named first, the purchaser second.
