Coronation celebrations, 12 May 1937: church services; fancy dress parade headed by pipe band of 33rd Dundee Co. Boys Brigade; opening by Convener Wilkie of swings, etc.; planting of tree by Provost Scrimgeour; concert at night; choir / lecture on Gilbert & Sullivan; bonfire on braes lit by Miss Flora Scrimgeour. Thanks to Mr Strath & Mr Hugh Muir and other teachers at Newport School for organising the sports. |
