Improvements at Newport Pier ... conversion of old boatshed and other low buildings into a range of 7 handsome shops. ... thought it would be necessary to take off the roofs and add to the height of the walls - on examination it was found the requisite height might be attained without that expense. The work has been done ... a range of architectural buildings which will compare favourably with any in the locality....
