Cupar, 4 Sep 1784. On 1 Aug 1784 compeared personally John Lyon senior Kinnaird merchant in Dundee & George Ramsay servant to John Hay of Newport baillie, the said John Lyon having & holding a disposition granted by Alexander Duncan of St Fort, 13 Feb 1783, whereby Alexander Duncan disponed to John Lyon liferent & John Lyon younger in fee (1) all & whole two land acres & a half arable land, part of lands called Newport … bounded by certain acres of arable land also part of Newport, formerly belonging to the estate of Inverdovat of old called Lightons Lands thereafter to the Guildry of Dundee & now to said John Lyon, on the W; by an acre of land belonging to John Lyon on lands of Inverdovat & by 2 acres of Alexander Duncan's estate of St Fort respectively on the E; by the King's highway on the N; & by certain march stones dividing the same from the lands of Inverdovat on the S; & teinds … liberty of grazing & pasturing in the commonty of Inverdovat … £35 … Alexander Duncan … ; & also (2) barron ground lying between the King's highway on S and water of Tay on N, & the rocks & land within the floodmark opposite to 2 acres of land or thereby lying on the E side of Caldwell with the piers or harbours built thereon … reserving to Alexander Duncan & his tenants the right to drive sheep & cattle along said barron ground … & to eat of the grass as they go, but not to continue at pasture … RS 32/35/24
