Cupar 4 Sep 1784… on 24 Aug 1784 appeared personally John Hay of Newport for himself & as attorney for Sophia Kirkaldie, his spouse, & John Hay his only son, & George Ramsay, servant to said John Hay as bailie … disposition where John Lyon sold to John Hay & spouse liferent & John Hay, son, in fee
(1) all & whole the town and lands of Newport formerly consisting of about 6 acres of arable land, now consisting of 5 acres or thereby, bounded the said lands thereby feued out & disponed, by certain full stones or march stones dividing the same from that part of the lands of Newport presently taken off on the W by an acre of land belonging to the said John Lyon, lands of Inverdovat, & by 2 acres of estate of St Fort respectively on the E, by the highway on the N, & by certain … march stones dividing same from lands of Inverdovat on S, which lands are presently occupied by the said John Lyon & subtenants and were disponed by the Guildry of Dundee & by Alexander Duncan of St Ford to the said John Lyon; and also
(2) all & whole that acre and a half of arable land part of the lands of Inverdovat lying contiguous and on the S side of the lands thereby feued, bounded the said acre and a half by a road leading from Ferryport on Craig to Newport on the W, by stones dividing it from lands of Inverdovat on S, & Mr Dalgleish's lands on the E, & lands of Newport on N; and also
(3) barron ground between the King's highway on S and River Tay on N including rocks opposite said lands of Newport … & whole piers & harbours thereon … bounded said barron ground on W by the eastmost dyke of the small enclosed yards & houses presently possessed by George Robertson, Isobel Landsman & said John Hay, & by the barron rocks & ground lying on the N side of these yards betwixt them and the sea & which small inclosed yards and barron ground are part of the lands purchased by John Lyon from the Guildry of Dundee & Alexander Duncan … [extensive] … RS 32/35/26
