Cupar 9 March 1829 … On 22 January 1829 appeared personally David Jack, late farmer Balmerino, for himself and as attorney for Margaret Crow his wife, and James Duncan, wright, Woodhaven, as bailie … having a disp by David Henderson, eldest son of deceased Thomas Henderson, wright, Newport, where David Henderson sold to David & Margaret Jack in fee & liferent all & whole that part and portion of that piece of ground feued by David Henderson from William Just, mason at Justfield, part of the croft of Broadhaugh, which is a portion of the lands of Inverdovat, viz: the westmost of those 2 houses built upon said ground with the piece of ground in front of the westmost house between it and the turnpike road, and likewise the garden ground behind said house extending from the back wall thereof to the North garden wall or dyke, bounded on N by said garden wall (the sole property of the proprietor of the rest of the property); bounded on E by a mutual gable wall between this house and the one on the E and extensions N and S to boundaries; bounded on S by the King's highway; bounded on W by Andrew Kilgour … free entry to subjects above mentioned across the ground to the N thereof by a footpath communicating with the subjects disponed by means of a door in the mutual garden wall … right of shipping via said footpath [& road to beach from King's highway] … reserving to proprietor of said remaining part of piece of ground feued by David Henderson as aforesaid the privilege of ish and entry to & from the same by a 3' road or passage from the King's highway N along the W side of said dwelling house and then E along the back of it till it reach the said remaining part of the ground feued by David Henderson … witness Alexander Bell, apprentice to McEwan & Miller, writers, Dundee; witness Alexander Bell, merchant Dundee; witness Willam Just, mason, Newport … RS 32/167/145
