| At Cupar 24 Oct 1855 ... at Dundee, on behalf of Mrs Amelia Watson or Tennant, spouse of Thomas Tennant confectioner in Newport was presented a feu charter by John Berry, Tayfield ... piece of ground at Newport, part of the vacant ground on the S side of the road leading from the Ferry Pier westward, : N by said road, : on E & W by other property of Mr Berry marked by march stones, : on S by the northmost point of the rock in its present state immediately to the S of the said piece of ground, extending to 36' in front along the road, all as marked out by Robert Duncan, mason Newport, together with dwelling house now being erected on said ground ... Mrs Tennant to complete the dwelling house within 6 months of the feu charter, and within 10 years to replace the tile roof with which the dwelling house is at present covered with blue slates ... not to exceed 2 storeys ... not to be used as an inn or to sell spirituous liquors, keeping stabling for horses or conveyances for hire ... entry at Martinmas 1853 ... feu dated 17 Oct 1855 ... witnesses James Smith, Newport, factor, & William Whitton servant to Mr Berry ...
