Edinburgh 24 March 1828 … on 14 March 1828 on ground personally James Wilson corn merchant in Cupar and David Greig tacksman of Newport toll residing there bailie … James Wilson having … feu by Robert Dalgleish of Scotscraig … to James Wilson … all & whole that part of Robert Dalgleish's lands of Craighead extending to 10 acres 32 falls Scots bounded on E by centre of a mutual march dike between said lands & lands of John Rodger of Northfield, on S by a line of march stones set betwixt [these] lands and others belonging to Robert Dalgleish, on W by another line of march stones set betwixt [these] lands & others of Robert Dalgleish, & on the N by the sea, together with the houses thereon … entry by a carriage road … burden of a footpath leading through said subjects along the top of the sea braes towards Ferryport on Craig as would be shown legally to exist by persons having interest therein … power & liberty to James Wilson to use water of spring in Robert Dalgleish's park south of [this ground] & also to quarry away at their expense from quarries then opened or as might be opened in Robert Dalgleish's park to the S such stones as might be useful for building on and enclosing the lands feued … yearly feu duty £56-18/- sterling … & £20 for entering the said subjects … [freed] from all cess … & parochial taxes … witnesses [to the feu] at Marytown 7 March 1828 - Robert Brown farmer, St Nicholas near St Andrews & John Shepherd residing at Marytown [witnessing Robert Dalgleish's signature]; witnesses [at the hand over] at Craighaed 14 March 1828 - Thomas Honeyman, vintner Marytown & James Forbes his clerk [sic, ?clerk of William Pagan, notary public] … RS 3/1473/285 |
