Edinburgh 20 Jun 1839, registered. On 10 Jun 1839 appeared George Knight farm servant at Wester Gourdie near Dundee attorney for Henry Stewart, St Fort, & George Spence chaise driver in Dundee as bailie for William Berry of Tayfield lawful superior of the lands, fishings and others ... charter of confirmation by William Berry containing a sasine called a precept of clare constat for infefting Henry Stewart as immediate brother german of deceased Archibald Campbell Stewart his eldest brother who died without issue, therefore as lawful heir [gets] a disp dated 16 & 18 Nov 1803 granted by William Gordon eldest son of deceased William Gordon late of Woodhaven whereby he sold to Archibald Campbell Stewart ... (1) whole park or field of land called Woodmuir Park, part of Inverdovat, & salmon fishings, & (2) that part of Inverdovat at one time occupied and possessed by Elizabeth Paterson (about 2 acres of land) recorded in Particular Register os Sasines 17 Dec 1803 ... (1) Woodmuir Park bounded the said field of land by the ground formerly belonging to Robert Russell afterwards to said William Gordon son of deceased William Gordon & sold by him to John Berry, Tayfield, on the east; by Thomas Just's ground on the west; by the lands of Inverdovat sometime belonging to John Lyon of Kinnaird & now to said William Berry on the south; and by the high road on the north parts; including salmon fishings west of Newport Pier as far west as the house formerly possessed by Alexander Gourlay smith, & with the sea ware opposite to said park & privilege & liberty to said Henry Stewart of spreading their fishing nets on the rock or piece of vacant ground on the north side of the house & yard formerly possessed by William Robertson; ... (2) all & whole the lands of Inverdovat with houses and yards all as sometimes occupied and possessed by Elizabeth Paterson consisting of about 2 acres (a) bounded the said houses & yards by the high water mark on the north; by the King's high road on the south; by subjects sometime belonging to heirs of deceased James Rae and now by me [Berry] on the west; and by subjects feued by the deceased John Lyon to Thomas Just mason and divided by march stones from the foresaid subjects on the east; (b) and the arable land of the said possession is bounded by the lands of Woodhaven belonging to Henry Stewart on the west; by subjects formerly belonging to the heirs of deceased James Rae and now to me [Berry] on the east; by the high water mark on the north; and by subjects belonging to me and sometime occupied by Andrew Landsman on the south; ... feu duty of £5-5-0 for Woodmuir Park + (for salmon fishings) 3 fresh clean salmon weighing 18 lbs at least each (or 5/- for each salmon not delivered to me at my house of Tayfield) ... feu duty of 2/6d. for Elizabeth Paterson's land ... lands shall be astricted to the Sea Mills of Inverdovat with their whole grindable corn ... witnessed at Tayfield by David Baillie my gardener, & William Whitton my servant ... signed William Berry.
