| Edinburgh 6 Oct 1877 feu - John Berry, Tayfield [for] £5 paid by William Hurry baker in Newport dispone to him … small pce grnd lying immediately S of … that pce grnd at Newport … being pt of the vacant ground on S side of road leading from the Ferry Pier westward, : N by said road, : E & W by other property of mine [Berry] separated by march stones, : S by northmost point of the rock immediately S of said pce grnd, aall as described in a disp by David Graham Bruce formerly gas inspector or collector, Dundee, now house agent there in favour of William Hurry … this pce grnd has been hewn out of the rock and is situated immediately S of the subjects before described & William Hurry has partly erected thereon a bakehouse in connection with the building erected on the subjects before described … this pce extends to 0.5 pol & together with the subjects acquired by William Hurry from David Bruce measures along the N boundary next to the road 35' 6"; along E 44'; along W 37'; along S 35' … to be holden de me for 1 penny Scotsyearly only if asked … witnessed at Tayfield … Etta Wise (Anna Henrietta Wise, governess) … RS 101/132/182 |
